POSITION SUMMARY

The Part Time Buildings and Grounds Technician is responsible for the routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of L.E.A.P. facilities and grounds throughout Washington County. The Buildings and Ground Technician will ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained environments for staff, clients, and the community. This position will perform general building maintenance, groundskeeping, light custodial tasks, seasonal support, and program-related services including Clean & Tune and air conditioner installation, as assigned. L.E.A.P. expects all employees to contribute to the overall success and mission of the Agency beyond the basic requirements of their position.

1. General Building Maintenance

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment (e.g., filters, batteries, minor mechanical systems)
  • Assist with moving, assembling, and arranging furniture for classrooms, offices, and agency events
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and report maintenance needs requiring advanced repair
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment

2. Groundskeeping

  • Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, raking, and snow or ice removal
  • Ensure walkways, entrances, parking areas, and outdoor access points are safe and clear
  • Perform minor repairs to fencing, gates, playground hardware, and outdoor fixtures
  • Assist with seasonal cleanup and storm debris removal

3.Custodial and Safety Support

  • Assist with light custodial tasks as needed, including trash removal, basic cleaning, and supply restocking
  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance concerns
  • Assist with room setup, furniture movement, and event support

4. Program-Specific Responsibilities (Clean & Tune / Air Conditioning)

  • Clean and tune primary heating equipment, including minor repairs and safety improvements
  • Install carbon monoxide detectors or programmable thermostats as required
  • Measure, purchase, deliver, and install room-sized air conditioners at Agency locations

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years of experience in general maintenance, facilities, or related work preferred.
  • Experience with basic HVAC, electrical, or plumbing tasks preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
