Our Youth Employment Programs offer job search assistance to youth ages 14 to 24 so they can find the ideal job, begin a new career, or take the next step in a lifelong journey of work. With the right tools and support, the process of finding summer employment or your first job is much easier.

Summer Youth Employment Program

There are a variety of summer jobs for teenagers in Washington County NY, and we can help connect you with the right opportunity. Here’s what you should know about our Summer Youth Employment Program:

  • Applications are accepted each year beginning in April
  • Interviews will be held with our Employment Counselor in June
  • Accepted applicants will be placed based on their interview
  • Must be 14-to-20 years old
  • Must be a Washington County resident
  • Must be from a family at/under 200% of the poverty line
  • Must be from a family receiving HEAP, SNAP, SSI, Cash Assistance, Medicaid
  • Starting at $15/hour!

Are you a Washington County-based employer? Would you like to be a mentor worksite? Complete and return the interest form and one of our Youth Employment Counselor will go over all of the details. Get up to 30 hours per week per teen employee for eight weeks this summer – at no cost to you! All youth will be Washington County residents. Help us build a strong, well-rounded workforce in our county.

In-School Employment Program

Finding employment for youth in high school is one of our main services as the designated Career Center for Washington County. Our In-School Employment Program is geared toward high school students looking for work experience and part-time jobs.

To be eligible for any of our In-School Youth Employment Services you must meet Federal Income Requirements and:

  • Be 14 to 21 years old
  • Attending school
  • Have barriers to employment
  • Be a resident of Washington County
  • Provide us with your Social Security Number
  • Provide us with a copy of your birth certificate
  • If under the age of 18 you must provide us with a copy of your working papers

Eligible participants will be interviewed and placed in a job based on their skills and interests.

Out-of-School Employment Program

Our Out-of-School Employment Program helps young adults who are no longer enrolled in school find a job or start a career. Participants in this program may also be able to enroll in our GED Program and complete their High School education.

To be eligible for any of our Out-of-School Youth Employment Services you must meet Federal Income Requirements and:

  • Be 16 to 24 years old
  • Have barriers to employment
  • Be a resident of Washington County
  • Provide us with your Social Security Number
  • Provide us with a copy of your birth certificate
  • If under the age of 18 you must provide us with a copy of your working papers
